If you really want to get track of who is coming from where, i would suggest the Ultimate Tracer plugin instead.

You will see all the actions done by any member/IP on your own site.
The Referrer plugin will only tell you from were YOU came and will not keep any trace of it in any file or table... I could add to the Ultimate Tracer plugin an option to log also the Referrer info to all activities on your board...

If their browser is supporting the Referrer feature, yes you will see from where they came with that new option...

The Ultimate Tracer plugin is creating a HTML log file, viewable from a link you install where you want, normally in the admin welcome section.
